About the Harmonica Barge

The Harmonica barge was started by music Graduate and professional musician Ed Hopwood.  Ed continues to offer one-to-one lessons in London one-to-one and globally on Zoom as well as offering highly rated pre-recorded Video lessons and courses.

Ed's been playing harmonica since the age of 13 and has been fortunate to study harmonica with some great players including David Michelsen and Will Greener.

 

Ed graduated from Thames Valley University in 2008 with a degree in Popular Music. In his final year, he specialised in Blues/Roots music with an emphasis on music education.

He's taught hundreds of complete beginners to play the harmonica at their own homes or workshops, festivals and even live on the radio!

Previous students included BBC Panaroma's Tom Mangold and members of Indie Rock band Mystery Jets.

Ed's also in demand as a session player and has recorded in some diverse situations including a comedy show for BBC radio 4 and a song for a Nashville/London songwriting collaboration.  

He continues to work with Roots Blues artist Mark Harrison and has recorded 4 well-received Albums with Mark with a personal highlight playing a sell-out show at Glasgow's Celtic Connections- One of the world's biggest Roots music festivals.
